Siraj, who removed the dangerous SRH openers Travis Head (8) and Abhishek Sharma (18) cheaply before coming back to take two wickets in the 19th over, was named the 'Player of the Match'. Siraj also took his 100th IPL wicket during his spell.
Mohammed Siraj was named the Player of the Match for taking three wickets in Gujarat Titans’ win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2025. The speedster was not done yet and picked up four scalps in the next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aniket Verma, and Simarjeet Singh had no answers to Siraj’s brilliance, who conceded 17 runs from his four overs as the hosts posted 152/8.
Former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu declared the fast bowler the winner of the POTM award even before the start of the second innings.
“Siraj has won the Player of the Match award even before the start of the second innings. The chances are 70 percent, and I think he will get it. Nobody even thought in their dreams that Siraj would be brilliant in this year’s IPL. There was a question mark on him after the Australia tour,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.
Manjrekar mentioned that Siraj’s absence from the Indian team has been beneficial for the pacer. Mohammed Siraj was not considered for the ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with the selectors and the team management preferring Harshit Rana over the senior bowler.
“He has evolved during the leave of absence. His speed has increased. Siraj created pressure on the batters, and they ended up giving their wicket to him,” Sanjay Manjrekar said.
