Afghanistan National Cricket Team vs West Indies National Cricket Team Timeline : WI and AFG go Timeline in match 40 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in Trinidad on Tuesday, June 18. This is the penultimate group game in the World Cup.

Afghanistan National Cricket Team vs West Indies National Cricket Timeline : The group stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 will come to an end on Tuesday with the last match between co-hosts West Indies and Afghanistan which will be played at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet in St Lucia. It will be the 40th match of the tournament and the last before the Super 8s kick off on Wednesday with a match between the USA and South Africa.

Both West Indies and Afghanistan have already qualified for the Super 8s from Group C after winning three matches respectively. The upcoming clash will decide who will finish at the top of the table, however, in the larger scheme of things it doesn’t matter much due to the pre-determined seedings. Eight top teams were seeded for the Super 8 stage even before the start of the tournament. Which means they knew their Super 8 group beforehand.

For example, West Indies were seeded C2 which was placed in Group 2 for Super 8. Even if they finish at the top of Group C their seeding will remain C2 and they will be part of Group 2 in Super 8.

New Zealand, who are now out of the tournament, were seeded C1 and were expected to be part of Group 1. But because the Kiwis were eliminated and Afghansitan qualified from Group C, they have taken the C1 seeding and will be part of Group 1 in the Super 8.

Still, both teams will be looking for a victory in their last group match as they wouldn’t want their rhythm to be hampered ahead of the crucial Super 8 stage.
